Thomas Michael Lloyd

Beloved father, brother, son, uncle, poppa, and friend, Thomas “Tom” Lloyd, passed away peacefully Sept. 4, 2023, in Longview, Wash.

Tom was born in St. Paul, Minn., Jan. 23, 1941, to Alice and Robert Lloyd. In 1951 the Lloyd family moved to Longview where Tom attended St. Rose grade school and graduated from R. A. Long High School in 1959. After graduation, Tom enlisted and served for four years in the Navy.

He married Peggy Riddle in 1964. They divorced in 1985. Tom and Peggy raised three children - MaryAlice, Marla, and Tom #2.

After serving as a bookkeeper in the Navy, Tom made a career in banking, starting as a bank teller in Nevada and eventually serving as a bank manager, a bank vice president, and a commercial banker throughout the Pacific Northwest. He received a highly-esteemed career banking award as a prestigious honor from Key Bank prior to his retirement in 2006.  Following his retirement, Tom spent 12 years thriving in the Arizona sunshine, making an abundance of new friends and enjoying the desert lifestyle.

Tom was a jovial guy and always had his family in stitches with his bad dad jokes, awkward high fives, number fixations, “2-beer Tom” announcements, cat puns, recipes, and gardening tips. Tom’s family meant everything to him. He would often put his full fist together to reveal four knuckles - and touching each one, everyone knew that represented the four Lloyd brothers - Jerry, Tom, Dennis, and Pat. Along with his brothers, his children were his everything and he couldn’t talk about any one of them without tearing up. Finally, he would just sum it up with, “I’m the luckiest guy.”

Tom is survived by his children, MaryAlice (David), Marla (Dana), and Tom (Kimberley); his, brothers, Jerry (Sharon), and Pat; a sister-in-law, Linda Lloyd; seven grandchildren, Mykaila, Amanda, Morgan, Elizabeth, Muirah, Steven, and Alex; five great-granddaughters, Alice, Faye, Opal, Eden and Vanessa; numerous nieces and nephews; and an abundance of extended relatives, and special friends. 

Tom was preceded in death by his younger brother, Dennis; and his parents, Alice and Robert Lloyd.

A celebration of Tom’s life was held Oct. 1, 2023, at Kelle Hall, 1140 11^th Ave., in Longview.
