Lifelong local resident Shannon Marie Baker, 78, of Longview, passed away Dec. 28, 2023, at St. John Medical Center.
She was born Dec. 21, 1945, in Longview, to Jim and Grace Gould. Shannon attended R.A. Long High School where she played first violin in the band. She graduated in the top ten in 1964.
Shannon worked in the accounting office at Longview Fibre Company for 38 years, retiring in 2004. She then filled her days by helping to raise two of her grandchildren. Shannon was a member of the Kelso Elks and enjoyed hosting holiday gatherings, antique shops, swap meets and farmer’s markets. She especially enjoyed spending time at their beach house in Long Beach. She was a loving, strong-willed family matriarch who loved-ones sought for advice.
She married Ronald Baker in Longview in 1985. He survives her at home. Also surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Curtis and Dana Williams of Longview; six grandchildren, Conner, Hunter, Austin and Elizabeth Williams, all of Longview, and Jason and Matthew Baker, both of Castle Rock; and a great-granddaughter, Taylor Williams of Longview.
Shannon was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Ellen Gould; and a daughter, Brenna Williams.
A funeral service is planned for 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 12 at Steele Chapel. Shannon’s lifelong friend, the Rev. Donna Greene of All Saints in Vancouver will officiate the open casket service. Shannon will be laid to rest during a private placement at Longview Memorial Park.
