Lifelong local resident Ronald Dean DePriest, 72, passed away Dec. 6, 2023, at St. John Hospice.

Ron was born May 25, 1951, the second son to Gene and Jo (Burress) DePriest. He graduated from R.A. Long High School in 1969. In 1971 he received his associates in science from Lower Columbia College. He also attended Western Washington University.

Ron and Gloria Christiani were married Aug. 14, 1971. They quietly celebrated their 52nd anniversary this past summer.

After returning to Longview in 1973, Ron continued working as a Teamster. He was a proud union member for more than 40 years. He retired from United Parcel Service in 2009.

Ron enjoyed spending time with the family dogs, Bonnie and Finley, relaxing at his Sunriver home, traveling and target shooting. He was an avid runner, swimmer and cyclist for many years, participating in biathlons and triathlons. He loved spending holidays surrounded by family.

Ron is survived by his wife, Gloria; a daughter, Christin Hart; a son-in-law, Aaron; a niece, Jodi Wygant and her husband, Jeff; two great-nieces, Julia and Jaylee Wygant; a great-nephew, Jase Wygant; a brother, Kurt; a sister-in-law, Jan; and a special uncle, Dale DePriest.

Both of Ron’s parents preceded him in death.

Ron had an engaging personality, an easy smile, and a kind heart. He will be greatly missed.
