Janie McVicker, 86, of Vancouver, passed away April 4, 2023, at home.
She was born Jan. 27, 1937, in Portland, to Edward and Nelle (McComb) Eldridge. After high school Janie attended Northwest Christian College. On Sept. 2, 1957, she married Larry McVicker in Eugene, Ore. They eventually settled in Longview where they raised two children.
Janie was a realtor in the Longview/Kelso area, a teacher’s aide with the Kelso School District and retired as a daycare teacher at the First Baptist Church in Longview. Janie enjoyed coloring, checkers and bingo. She was outgoing, friendly and caring. She loved helping others.
Surviving her are a daughter, Edwina Harriman of Vancouver; a son, Mike McVicker of Vancouver; a grandson, David Harriman of Portland; a granddaughter, Janelle McIntire of Henderson, Nev.; and three great-grandsons, Reuben Harriman and Oscar Harriman, both of Portland, and Edward McIntire of Henderson. Her husband, Larry, preceded her in death.
A public viewing is planned from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 11 at Steele Chapel. Janie will be laid to rest with Larry during a cryptside service following at 1 p.m. at Longview Memorial Park in Mausoleum B. Pastor Galen Conrad will officiate.
