Margaret Pitlo, 97, of Longview passed away Feb. 3, 2024, at St. John Medical Center.
She was born July 8, 1926, in Hooversville, Pa., to Simon and Elizabeth (Kvasnosky) Mayak, and raised with 11 siblings.
Margaret married William Pitlo in Glasco, Mont., July 1, 1946. They moved to Longview in 1954.
Margaret worked for St. John Medical Center for 30 years. She retired from their laundry services in 1988. She was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church and St. Joseph Circle. She enjoyed crocheting, scratch off tickets, and was a devoted Seattle Mariners fan.
Survivors include three children, Linda Santman of Bonney Lake, Wash., Karen (Gary) Roth of Longview and Stanley (Becky) Pitlo of Kenai, AK; two siblings, Johanna Sarver of St. Thomas, Pa., and Helen Mauger of Maple Heights, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Ferne Mayak of St. Petersburg, Fla.; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren with one on the way; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William May 25, 2008; a son-in-law, Jerry Santman; and nine siblings, Mary Sauer, Andy Mayak, Chris Polenik, Sam Mayak, Joe Mayak, Josie Behrbom, Frankie Mayak, Anna Gavlak, and John Mayak.
A rosary is planned for 10:30 a.m. and a funeral Mass for 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 16 at St. Rose Catholic Church, 2571 Nichols Blvd., Longview, WA 98632.
Donations in Margaret’s name have been requested to St. Vincent DePaul, P.O. Box 2957, Longview, WA 98632
Final arrangements have been entrusted to Steele Chapel at Longview Memorial Park.
