Larry Lee Herold

Larry left this earth on March 7, 2024. He was born in Silverton, Oregon to Mildred
Christine Dack and Thomas Alva Burr. Larry and his mom moved to Kelso, Washington
in 1941 and eventually ended up in Longview. Larry went to RA Long High School and
graduated in 1955. Larry went into the Navy in 1956 and retired after 20 years of
service as a Chief Petty Officer. He received numerous accolades throughout his
career and served during the Vietnam conflict.
After military service, Larry returned to Longview and worked in the real estate industry
for 15 years. He became an agent then a broker and worked in his mother’s real estate
office, Heritage Home Sales. He then became office manager at Ocean Beach Self
Storage until he retired again.
After retiring from his second career, Larry went into community service. He served at
the VFW hall in Longview for many years and as the Post Commander from 2007-2008.
He also volunteered for many years with the Kelso Senior Center.
He lived at Heron Point Mobile Home Park for several years and enjoyed spending time
with his friends and neighbors. His health forced him to move to Delaware Plaza in
2017 where he lived until he passed away at age 86.
Larry is survived by his brother Gary Herold. He is proceeded in death by his mother
Mildred Herold, his stepfather Howard Herold, and his sister Linda Thompson.
A celebration of life will be held at Steel Funeral Chapel, 5050 Mt Solo Rd, Longview,
WA 98632, on March 25, 2024 (his 87 th birthday), at 1pm, with a reception to follow.
