Lifelong local resident Lamont Lee “Monte” McVicker, 63, passed away April 19, 2023, at his Longview home.
He was born Dec. 23, 1959, in Longview to Don and Laura McVicker, and attended Kelso High School.
Monte was a cook for local restaurants, but was best known for his musical talents, playing guitar with a variety of bands over the years, most notably with “Checker” at popular venues such as The Woodshed and Bart’s. Monte loved playing classic rock, making people laugh, God, family and his cats.
Survivors include a sister, Cindy Nordstrom of Kalama; two brothers, Tim McVicker of Mission Viejo, Calif., and Lauren McVicker of Azna, Calif.; two daughters, Nicole Zuniga of Silverdale, Wash., and Jessica Clark of Kalama; a son, Sean McVicker of Kalama; seven grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and his partner, Sheila Wiggins of Longview. His parents, Don and Laura McVicker, preceded him in death.
A celebration of Monte’s life was held May 21st, at the McClelland Arts Center, 951 Delaware St., in Longview.
