Kathleen Susanne Horn, affectionately known as Kathy, passed away unexpectedly on June 27, 2025, at PeaceHealth St. John’s Hospital in Longview, Washington. Born on May 18, 1964, in Vancouver, Washington, she brought joy and warmth to all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Kathy was a vivacious individual with an indomitable spirit. A graduate of Woodburry Central in Moville, Iowa, class of 1983, she led a fulfilling life enriched by her love for family and friends. Kathy's personality was magnetic; she was known for being the life of the party, and her ability to connect with others made everyone loved and welcome. Her home was a gathering place filled with laughter, music, and cherished memories, including beach trips and summer BBQs. Friends and family alike fondly remember her playing "Lime in the Coconut" by Harry Nilsson on her stereo, a testament to her love for music and the joy it brought to her gatherings.
Kathy had a kind and nurturing heart, dedicating her life to caring for those around her. She worked as a nanny, sharing her compassion and nurturing spirit with children, and took great pride in her role as a loving wife to her late husband, Thomas Horn. They shared a strong bond, and her devotion to him and her happiest moments included their adventures together. Kathy's stepson, Jerrod, was another source of pride in her life, and she embraced her role as a proud stepmom.
Her passions extended to various hobbies, including thrifting, baking, and enjoying time with family and friends around bonfires and at the beach. Kathy had a particular affinity for animals, especially her beloved cats, who often found their way to her heart and home. Her singing voice was beautiful, and she took joy in belting out songs that brought happiness to those around her. Competitive by nature, she welcomed any challenge, ready to engage in a friendly game of Scrabble, Monopoly, or Trivial Pursuit.
