JoeAnn Torkko, 91, passed away on January 12, 2026, at home in Longview, Wa.

Born on March 29, 1934 in Onalaska, Wa, JoeAnn graduated from Chehalis High School in 1952. As a young woman, she worked at Lewis County PUD before marrying her beloved husband of 55 years, James A Torkko on April 10, 1054, who preceded her in death. She dedicated herself to raising her two children and serving her community. Her commitment to service was reflected in her many roles: she was a founding board member of FISH of Cowlitz County served on the board of Community Concert Series, was an election precinct volunteer and was a member of Gideon Auxiliary, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and Birthday Club.

JoeAnn loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was deeply involved in her faith communities over the years attending First Christian Church, Longview Community Church before spending the last 33 years at Calvary Community Church. She shared her musical talent with church and community choirs.

She enjoyed spending time with family, reading and listening to talking books as her vision declined, sewing, crafts and gardening. JoeAnn and Jim found joy in traveling and camping.

JoeAnn is survived by her daughter Kirsten Amrine and son-in-law Joseph Amrine; son Dr. David Torkko and daughter-in-law Michelle Torkko; grandchildren Andrew Amrine (Katie), Dr. Nathan Amrine (Megan), Helaina Brandon (Jamal) and six great grandchildren and sister-in-law Jolyn Henricksen.

She was preceded in death by her parents Andrew and Lenora Henricksen; younger brother Dr. John Henricksen; great grandparents Tenna and C. Henry Maack and her husband James.

A memorial service will be held on March 7, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at Calvary Community Church in Longview, Wa. Private family Internment at Longview Memorial Park.

JoeAnn will be remembered as a woman of faith, grace and class. May her memory bring comfort to all who knew her.
