James "Jim" Edward Bond, 88, of Longview, passed away in the comforts of his own home. Jim was born on February 24, 1936 to Robert and Ada Bond in Arcadia, Kansas.
In Jim's younger, more reckless days, he was often found behind the wheel of a race car and had many awards as well as scars to show for his efforts. Jim was known for his incredible work ethic and spent many years working as a longshoreman. In addition to his time spent on the docks, Jim was an entrepreneur, owning and operating Cross Keys Tavern along with other local establishments.
Jim retired in 2002, and although his time spent working hard to provide for his family had come to an end, his passion and love for those he cared about only strengthened. He spend his later years soaking up time with those he loved. He would often be found enjoying the comforts of his own home with his loving wife of almost 40 years, Maria Bond. In addition to spending time with his wife, he treasured moments visiting or watching a race with his children; or taking his grandchildren on trips to Long Beach or teaching them about everything under the hood of his 1963 Plymouth Valiant and 1965 Ford Ranchero. When he wasn't spending time with those he loved, he enjoyed tinkering in his shop, playing solitaire and watching any race he could find on TV.
Jim was predeceased by Robert Bond (Father), Ada Bond (Mother), Robert (Brother), Nettie (Sister), Paul (Brother), Dorothy (Sister), Ralph (Brother), Hazel (sister), Clyde (Brother), Logan (Brother), Lottie (Sister), Dorris (Sister), Elmer "Corky" (Brother), Marion (Brother), and Thomas (Brother).
He is survived by Maria Bond (Wife), Sheryl Bond (Daughter), Teresa Bond (Daughter), Brian Roden (Stepson), Amy Roden (Stepdaughter), Tammie Sabo (Adopted Daughter), Joe Sabo (Adopted Son), Chelsea Harmon (Granddaughter), Kyler Roden (Grandson), Porsche Roden (Granddaughter), Anna Roden (Granddaughter), Myles Harmon (Grandson), Kael Roden (Great Grandson), Koen Roden (Great Grandson), and many nieces and nephews.
