Glenn Gossett

February 21, 1950 — April 13, 2024

Longview

Glenn Gossett passed away on April 13, 2024 with his family by his side.  He was born in Bakersfield California to Floyd and Ellie Gossett.  He was fondly known as “Pee-Wee” in the Union Gap, Oregon (Oakland/Sutherlin) area neighborhood where he grew up.  He was one of seven children survived by Beulah Mae Strickland and Lynn Ell Eisenbeiz.  His Brothers Jack Gossett, Danny Gossett and Sisters Bobbie Joan Johnson, and Wilma Ruth Gossett preceded him.

Glenn graduated from Oakland High School where he met his high school sweetheart and the love of his life Ann Nerell.  Glenn and Ann were married in 1968 and had two daughters, Anne Marie and Annessa.  This July they would have celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary.

Glenn’s passions in life were family, music, history, classic cars, car racing, airplane model building, science fiction movies and books, as well as Southern Cuisine.  He learned to play guitar at an early age and loved jamming with friends and family.  It was common to hear music coming from the Gossett household accompanied by laughter and jovial conversation.  When Glenn’s grandchildren showed an interest in music, he was the happiest man on earth, and he inspired and nurtured their creativity.  Over the years Glenn restored many classic cars, including two 65 mustangs—one with each of his beloved daughters.  But above all else it was family that mattered the most to him.  At some point during a visit with Glenn, he would tell you how much he loved you and how proud he was of you, and he meant it.  He also had a razor-sharp wit and was a master at good, humored sarcasm.  He could sure make people smile and laugh.

After Glenn and Ann were married, they moved to Sutherlin, Oregon where he worked as a Log Scaler for Georgia Pacific.  In 1986 Glenn accepted a job as a Log Scaler with Southern Oregon Log Scaling Bureau and moved to Glendale Oregon.  In 1990 he made the decision to combine avocation with vocation—he purchased a Snap-on franchise and moved to Montague, California.  Glenn had a successful career with Snap-on and received many performance-based awards.

While the grandchildren were still young Glenn and Ann made the decision to move back to the Pacific Northwest.  As a result, they were able to spend many quality hours with their grandkids.  He retired from a sales career in Longview, WA in 2016.

He is survived by his wife Ann, daughters: Anne Marie Winders-Gaddis and Annessa Morey, Son-in-laws: Buzz Winders-Gaddis and Frank Morey, Grandchildren: Emily Rivera, Madeline Winders-Gaddis, Gabriel Glenn Morey, and Samuel Morey.
