Ethel "Terry" Taylor

November 30, 1931 — December 23, 2023

Longview

In loving memory of Ethel Taylor, also known to many as Terry.

Terry Taylor, 92, of Longview passed away unexpectedly Dec. 23, 2023, at Sunnyside Medical Center.

She was born Nov. 30, 1931, in Ardwick, Manchester, United Kingdom, to George and Caroline (Norbury) Story, and immigrated to the U.S. in 1972. Terry moved to the local area from Montana in 1978.

Terry worked as a caregiver for five years, and was an active volunteer with the Lower Columbia Community Action Program (CAP) for 35 years, even though she never learned how to drive. She was also a member of the charitable group Daughters of the British Empire (DBE) for 25 years.

She was a loving mother and grandmother, and a wonderful friend to those blessed to know her. She was kind, witty, and stubborn at times, but most of all she was selfless. She had the biggest heart.

Terry married Herbert William Marsden in 1951. They had six children before divorcing 15 years later. In 1971, she married Eric Taylor in England. He blessed her with a seventh child.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eric; two sons, Herbert William Marsden Jr., and John Marsden; and a son-in-law, Rea England.

Survivors include five children and their spouses, Gloria and John Bates, Collette Taylor, Michelle England, Bill Taylor, and Monique and Tony Miller; two daughters-in-law, Janet Marsden and Brenda Marsden; a brother, George Coulter; a sister, Marion Story; 15 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

We will all miss her so much, her smile, her laughter, and her personality. She was a blessing from God and we were all lucky to be blessed by her presence. May she rest in peace.

Terry was laid to rest with Eric at Longview Memorial Park. Final arrangements were entrusted to Steele Chapel.
