Donald Richard Boyce, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on May 23, 2024 in Longview, Washington. He was born on July 6, 1938, in Berkeley, California, to his parents Beryl and Dorothy Boyce.
Donald led a remarkable life filled with dedication and service. After earning a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Alaska where he excelled as a member of the ski team, Donald embarked on a fulfilling career path. He served in the army with distinction, deploying two tours in Vietnam where he served as a pilot and in the artillery. His commitment to his country led him to spend two years in Thailand as well. Donald's unwavering dedication culminated in his retirement from the army as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1984 after 27 years of honorable service.
Transitioning into civilian life, Donald found joy working as a State Farm Agent in Longview until his retirement in 2000. Known for his easy laughter, quiet demeanor, and love for friends, Donald made lasting impressions on all who had the privilege to know him.
Outside of his professional endeavors, Donald nurtured his passion for fishing and skiing. These hobbies brought him solace and happiness throughout his life.
In his personal sphere, Donald was cherished by his surviving family members: his devoted spouse Cecilia Boyce of Longview; sons Michael Boyce of Anchorage; Charles Anderson of Trumbull; Douglas Anderson of Buford; alongside seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was predeceased in death by his twin brother Ronald, Steven Boyce (son), Abigail Anderson (granddaughter), Robert Boyce (grandson), and his late parents Beryl and Dorothy.
Donald will be remembered as a man of integrity, valor, and kindness. His legacy of service to both nation and community will endure through the lives he touched. May he rest in peace knowing he was cherished by many.
