Dawn Rene Peters, beloved daughter, sister, wife, and friend, passed away on August 5, 2025, in Longview, Washington. Born on May 11, 1961, in Newport, Oregon, she radiated kindness and beauty throughout her life. Dawn attended Natural High in Longview and she continued her education at LCC, engaging in nursing coursework that prepared her for a meaningful career as a caregiver and certified nursing assistant.
Dawn's early work experiences were varied and demonstrated her dedication and resilience. At the age of 15 and a half, she began her first job with the Longview water department before taking on the role of carhop at the original A&W in Longview during her teenage years. As her career progressed, she contributed her skills at the State Capitol in Olympia, Washington, processing worker's compensation claims. Ultimately, her compassionate nature led her to become a postal worker who delivered mail, including to Rose Valley, forging connections within her community.
Dawn was not just defined by her professional life; she was also known for her caring spirit and her dedication to helping others. She exhibited this through her thoughtful act of creating pantry baskets from her own kitchen for those she knew were in need. Her courage and perseverance shone through as she proudly embraced her identity as a breast cancer survivor.
Beyond her career and charitable actions, Dawn cherished the time spent with family and friends. She shared a particularly close bond with her sister, Jodie Kingsbury, with whom she created countless memories filled with joy, laughter, shopping, and playing Bingo together. Dawn was a devoted wife to Duane Peters and a loving stepmother to Sarah and Amy. She is also survived by her mother, Dona Haines; father, Richard Elliott; brother-in-law, Leroy Peters; and several grandchildren, nieces, and nephews who cherished her deeply.
Dawn is preceded in death by her grandparents, John and Susie Elliott, and Leo and Ora Christofferson; her aunt, Ann Johnson; her uncle, Mel Johnson; her cousin, David Johnson; her cousins, Barbara Albright; and her aunts and uncles, Katherine Albright and Ralph Albright.
As we remember Dawn, we celebrate a life filled with care, love, and compassion for others. Her legacy is one of unwavering kindness, and she will be profoundly missed by all who knew her.
A graveside service in honor of Dawn will be held on August 29, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Longview Memorial Park, located at 5050 Mt. Solo Road, Longview, WA 98632.
