Claudie “Claude” Gene Montgomery passed away of natural causes on August 18, 2026, in Longview, Washington. He was born on August 26, 1940, in Chico, Texas.

Claude graduated from Clatskanie High School in Clatskanie, Oregon, in 1958. Over the years, he found enjoyment in skiing and in tinkering in the shop, pursuits that reflected both his energy and his hands-on nature.

He will be remembered most for the way he cared for others. His wife, Dora, recalls Claude as the most loving man she ever knew. He was willing to help anyone with anything and never judged anyone. Those who knew him also remember his smiling eyes, a reflection of the warmth and kindness he brought to the people around him. Among the great joys of his life, he was incredibly proud of all of his children and grandchildren.

Claude is survived by his wife, Dora Montgomery. He also leaves behind his daughter Connie Storedahl and Patrick; his daughter Julie Gorman and Jim; his son Bradley Montgomery and Dusti; his stepdaughter, Shannon Philbrook; and 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by his family, who carry forward the love, generosity, and steady presence that shaped their lives.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lewis Montgomery; his mother, Addie Montgomery; his sister, Treva Montgomery-Peck; and his brothers, James Montgomery and Lewis Montgomery.

Claude’s life was marked by love for his family, kindness toward others, and a readiness to lend a hand wherever it was needed. He will be remembered with affection and gratitude by all who knew him.
