Cheryl Lynne Sharkey, 78, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on May 20, 2026. She was born on January 5, 1948, in Longview, Washington, to Mildred Parrish Wallace and Reubin Wallace.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents; her stillborn brother, Raymond Oliver Wallace; her first husband, Roy Spindle; her husband, Dyarle Sharkey; and her daughter-in-law, Brandy Sharkey.
She is survived by her sister, Enid Wallace Chamblee; her children, Brad Spindle and his wife, June, Shelby Butterfield and her husband, Rick, Dyarle Sharkey II., Darci White and her husband, Dennis, and Derrick Sharkey and his wife, Melinda. She also leaves behind seven adored grandchildren, six cherished great grandchildren, her beloved dog, Magnolia Rose “Maggie,” who is now in the loving care of Derrick and Melinda, as well as two sister in laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends whose lives she touched throughout the years.
Cheryl graduated from Castle Rock high school in 1966.
Cheryl dedicated many years of her life to UPS, where she was one of the first women to serve as a package car and semi truck driver in Kelso, Washington. She took great pride in her work and was a tireless advocate for workers’ rights, standing firmly behind unions and the people they represented.
Known for her kind heart, unwavering generosity, and gift for encouraging others, Cheryl had a way of making everyone feel welcome. To her, no one was ever a stranger. She loved spending time with family, making memories at Disney, traveling, taking cruises, shopping, Corvette runs with the club, admiring Corvettes, and sharing meals with the people she loved most.
She was a gifted storyteller, famous for recounting every detail with enthusiasm and often taking a few memorable detours along the way. Many will fondly remember the late night phone calls and text messages that could arrive at any hour, simply because Cheryl wanted to check in, share a story, or let someone know they were loved.
Cheryl believed deeply in supporting small businesses and celebrating the success of others. Although she attended beauty college and was a talented beautician, she chose a career that provided stability while raising her young family, always putting the needs of those she loved first.
Above all, Cheryl lived with compassion. She never judged others and welcomed everyone with an open heart. If someone was in need, she would have gladly given them the shirt off her back without a second thought.
Cheryl’s warmth, strength, generosity, humor, and selfless spirit leave behind a legacy of love that will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
