Beloved family man Charles T. Myklebust, 86, of Longview passed away Feb. 1, 2023, at the Hospice Care Center in Longview.
He was born May 3, 1936, in Moscow, Idaho, to Bernard and Clara (Benner) Myklebust. Chuck graduated from R.A. Long High School with the class of 1954, and received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Pacific Lutheran University.
In August of 1976, Chuck married Karen Berglund in Longview and became a wonderful role model to her sons. Chuck was a caring and kind soul. He loved his family, and had a special bond with his granddaughter Madi and great-granddaughter Cove.
Chuck served in the National Guard before owning a grocery store in Ridgefield, Wash. He then dedicated 26 years to the Fred Meyer Grocery Department, retiring in 1999. He was a deacon at Emmanuel Lutheran Church and sang tenor in the choir. He loved music and tending to his yard.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Karen Myklebust at home; two sons, Thomas Myklebust of Woodland and Jay Myklebust of Portland; two stepsons, Jimmy Allis of Longview and Jeff Allis of Auburn, Wash.; three sisters, Bernadine Stafford of Cannon Beach, Ore., Mary Lynn Perdew in Texas, and Sonja Myklebust of Orsville, Wash.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A funeral service is planned for 11 a.m. Feb. 25 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church with Pastor Rick Nelson officiating.
