Charles Edward
Boyd
Dec 2, 1957 — Jun 5, 2026
Chuck had an infectious ability to make friends wherever he went; he never met a stranger.
Charles Edward Boyd, affectionately known as Chuck, passed away on June 5, 2006 in Longview, Washington, at the age of 68. Born on December 2, 1957, in Sunbury, Pennsylvania, Chuck lived a life marked by deep faith, steadfast work ethic, and profound love for his family.
Chuck was the beloved husband of Denise Boyd. He is survived by his children, Jason Boyd, Cari Verhei (and her husband Matt Verhei), and Candace Bales (and her husband Derek Bales), as well as his son Chad Boyd (and his partner Tajai Peterson). He was a devoted grandfather to Isaiah Boyd, Raiden Boyd, Jenasey Boyd, Daylin Boyd, Urijah Fischer, Kaven Boyd, Chevelle Bales, Riley Bales, and Venus Verhei. Chuck’s legacy extends to his cherished step-grandchildren Zackaree Verhei, Zaydee Verhei, and Alder Bales. He is also survived by his siblings: sister Donna Christeller, and brothers Dennis Boyd, Robert Boyd, Harry Boyd, and Steven Boyd. Chuck was preceded in death by his father, Lyle Eugene Boyd, and his mother, Ruth Alice Boyd.
Chuck’s journey was shaped by perseverance and tenacity. He earned his GED and went on to complete welding certification at a technical trade school, a preparation that paved the way for a career he found great fulfillment in. Over the years, Chuck worked at fish hatcheries in Alaska and as a welder at Reynolds Metals in Longview. In 1998, he found his calling as a boilermaker—an accomplishment that brought him much pride. His entrepreneurial spirit shone when he owned Chuck’s Prop Repair, testament to his ability to create opportunities through hard work and determination.
A man of many talents, Chuck approached life with curiosity and an eagerness to learn. He loved fishing, gardening, planting flowers and vegetables, and spending time outdoors. Feeding squirrels, building and repairing things, and restoring treasures enticed by a good deal were some of his favorite pastimes. Chuck was always happiest when surrounded by family, friends from church, and his beloved dogs.
It is impossible to summarize the joy Chuck brought to those who knew him. His family will never forget the laughter he inspired with his quick sense of humor and silly dad jokes, or the warmth of his kindness and honesty. Chuck had an infectious ability to make friends wherever he went; he never met a stranger and was always willing to extend a helping hand. Simple pleasures meant the most to him, whether it was camping, fishing, feeding ducks and squirrels with his children, or watching their delight as he surprised them by bringing ladybugs home in his lunchbox.
Chuck’s proudest accomplishment was his family. He cherished his role as a father and grandfather, and treasured every moment shared with his loved ones. His strong, unwavering faith was central to his life. As a devoted follower of Jesus Christ, Chuck found great joy in helping others, sincerely loving all those fortunate enough to be part of his life.
Above all, Chuck leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and dedication—a lasting testament to a life well-lived. His presence will be sorely missed by his family, friends, church community, and everyone whose lives he touched.
