Harold Clifford Mackey

A loving family man, Harold C. Mackey, 94, of Kelso passed away at the Hospice Care Center July 10, 2021.
He was born in Muskegon, Mich., to John and Amy (Baakki) Mackey, and raised in Negaunee, Mich., where he graduated from high school in 1945. Harold served as a member of the Military Police in Iceland before moving with his family to Longview in 1947.
In 1949 he married Barbara Disney. They had one child, a daughter, Carol.
Harold was a millwright at Longview Fibre and Reynolds Metals before retiring. He was a very creative person who loved woodworking and woodcarving. He also loved playing the accordion. He will be remembered for his kindness.
Survivors include his loving wife of 72 years, Barbara at home; a daughter, Carol Hayes of Seattle; and a brother, Gary Mackey of Vancouver.
Preceding him in death were four brothers, Lawrence, Donald, Gordon and Douglas
A memorial service is planned for 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 27 at Steele Chapel with a reception to follow. Hospice Chaplain David Johnson will officiate. Inurnment will take place at Willamette National Cemetery.
