Donald Walker

April 30, 1940 — February 28, 2023

Donald (Don) E. Walker Sr., 82, of Longview, Wash., passed away Feb. 28, 2023, at home.


Don was born April 30, 1940, in Mandon, N.D. His parents, Edward and Lillian Walker, relocated to Portland, Ore., when Don was a small child. He grew up with five brothers and two sisters. He enjoyed his childhood with lots of bike riding, fishing, and helping his parents with collecting walnuts to sell to help with expenses.


After leaving school, he enlisted in the Army and after two years, he went on to serve four years in the Oregon National Guard. During this time, he married and started his family. Don was father to Claressa, Kevin, Don Jr., Daniel, and twins, Darold and Shannon.


In 1974, he bought Ace Auto Wrecking and ran it successfully until he retired in 1997.


In retirement, Don enjoyed life by watching NASCAR racing. He spent lots of weekends watching son Daniel, and two grandsons, Brandon and Kevin, as they raced their own cars.


During his life, Don enjoyed dirt bike racing, playing cards with friends, and playing slot machines at various casinos from Washington to Las Vegas.


Don was a fun-loving man and a good friend. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.


Don is survived by his domestic partner, Shirley Nelson; his five children; three brothers: Dennis, Charles, and Ernie; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.


He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Ellen and Jean.
